Fig 8
October 7th, 2009I’m sure a lot of readers have already heard of Fig 8, in which you ride a bicycle through a blueprint. Well, I played it extensively for the first time today, and I can now see what all the hubbub a few months ago was about. So I’m gonna go ahead and throw in my recommendation for this relaxing little game.
Sweaty Boy
October 5th, 2009
Sweaty Boy is a fun little physics game where you have to warm up a little frozen kid by getting him over to a fire. This is achieved by clicking on different shapes to remove them from the environment and by doing so setting off chain reactions.
The Man Who Planted Trees
October 4th, 2009
Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 / Part 4
I was pretty much transfixed to the screen for the entire length of this story. The narration is great, and the animation adds a whole new level of depth. When you’re done watching, the Wikipedia article is worth checking out for more information. If you haven’t heard of The Man Who Planted Trees, though, I’d recommend going into it with no background information.
Double Edged
October 3rd, 2009Double Edged is a fantastic beat ‘em up featuring swords, hammers, bows and arrows, attacking lizards… All the workings of a fantastic game. I’ve been ignoring Nitrome for the past few months, but if Double Edged is any indication, I’ll probably be writing about their games quite a bit more.
RunMan: Race Around the World
October 2nd, 2009http://www.vimeo.com/6675849RunMan: Race Around the World is a collaborative effort between awesome game creators Matt Thorson and Tom Sennet. And it is, as expected from the guys who made games like Crush and An Untitled Story, completely god damn ridiculous. I fully expect to be playing this game until my fingers are numb and I’ve acquired every single medal.
Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said
October 1st, 2009Another book recommendation: I would strongly advise reading Philip K. Dick’s Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said. It’s one of those books that really has the potential to change the way you think about life.
Prelude to Foundation
October 1st, 2009
I finished up the first book in the Foundation series, Prelude to Foundation, a couple months back, and it definitely strikes me as a book worth recommending. As usual, Asimov’s visions of the future are completely mind blowing.
